Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California to Quincy Jones, a media producer and mogul, as well as Peggy
Lipton, Rashida is the younger sister of actress Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones.
Kidada Jones is her elder sibling. Five half-siblings are born through other
relationships with her father. Her father is African American and her mother is
Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant emigrants from Russia as well as Latvia).
Rashida was raised in Reform Judaism. She was born in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
Jones said that her mixed-race heritage was not recognized in the society of
the 1970s. Jones made her acting debut professionally with The Last Don in 1997

as Rashida's brother Quincy Jones III composed the song. Quincy Jones III,
their father, also appeared in the intro, singing Shakur's lines "Starry
Night". The poem was the source for the song's name. Rashida's father, who
is African-American also has a smaller percentage of English, Scottish and
Welsh ancestral ancestry (some ancestors of Rashida's African ancestors are from
the Tikar people in Cameroon). Her mother, Rashida, is Ashkenazi Jewish (of
Russian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent). Her maternal grandparents are from
South Carolina and Mississippi. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York,
and her maternal grandmother was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European
Jewish origin. At the time of writing, 2009, she has appeared in three
characters that go by the name "Karen" on classic cult TV comedies
(Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2005) and The Office (2005)).
